Waste sorting robotics · Project

A turnkey Katana MRP rollout for a robotics manufacturer

Waste Robotics builds AI driven sorting systems for the recycling industry. We audited how the plant planned, bought and tracked material, then implemented Katana end to end.

The need

Understand the operation before choosing the system

Waste Robotics integrates computer vision, deep learning and robotics into waste treatment installations. That is engineered to order work, where the same three processes decide whether a build ships on time: how production is planned, how inventory is managed, and how parts are procured. Those three were what the engagement had to understand first.

  • Planning, inventory management and procurement each reviewed on their own terms
  • A system decision that had to survive engineered to order builds, not catalogue production
  • One team responsible for the whole rollout rather than a software licence and a manual

The project

Audit first, then a full implementation

We ran the audit before touching software, so the Katana configuration answered to the operation rather than the other way round. LevelOps stayed responsible for the rollout end to end.

  1. 01

    Operations audit

A full review of planning, inventory management and procurement, covering how the processes actually ran rather than how they were documented.

  2. 02

    Katana MRP implementation

A turnkey rollout: configuration, data, and the workflows the plant needed on day one.

  3. 03

    Ongoing support

A follow on Katana support engagement, signed in October 2024, six months after the implementation closed.

Results

Delivered turnkey, then extended

The clearest signal on this engagement is what the client did next. Six months after the implementation closed, Waste Robotics signed a separate Katana support engagement.

  • The implementation was delivered as a turnkey engagement, with LevelOps accountable end to end
  • A follow on support engagement was signed in October 2024

“We highly recommend LevelOps, especially for the support and professionalism of the team.”

Questions about the Waste Robotics engagement

What does this page cover?

What Waste Robotics needed, the scope of the engagement and the systems implemented, which were Katana MRP. It is an implementation record rather than a measured case study.

Why are there no numbers on the outcome?

Because we did not measure them. Publishing a gain we never instrumented would be inventing one, so the page records what was done and stops there.

Could you do the same for us?

Likely, if you are on comparable systems. Describe your situation through the contact page and say what you already run, and we will tell you whether Katana MRP is the right starting point.

How does this relate to the Shopify app?

Implementation work puts the management system in place. PDF to Order handles the step before it, getting orders that arrive as documents into the system. Some clients have both, many have only one.

Can we speak to Waste Robotics?

Ask through the contact page. We check with the client before passing on any contact, so it depends on what they agree to.

Planning the same kind of project?

Tell us what you run today and what is breaking. We will tell you whether the system you are considering is the right one, before anyone signs anything.
